The board

The board is where work moves. Your tasks appear as cards in columns, and moving a card from one column to the next is how you make progress visible.

The four columns

Every quest starts with the same four columns:

• Queue — everything you haven’t started. A holding area; nothing here yet is perfectly fine.
• Todo — what you’ve queued up to do next.
• Doing — what’s in progress right now.
• Done — what you’ve finished.

Queue, Todo, and Done are fixed parts of every quest. You can add and customise Doing columns to match how you work (see Editing lanes below).

The Done lane

On a computer you can collapse the Done lane to a slim rail at the board’s right edge — click the chevron in its header, and click the rail (or press Enter on it) to bring it back. The board remembers your choice per quest. You can still drag a card onto the collapsed rail to finish it. Done cards keep quiet on the board: they show just their title, no date or detail pills, so finished work doesn’t shout. The full detail is always in the archive — All done › at the bottom of the lane.

Views

Plan afoot shows these columns through a few views, switchable from the menu:

• Board — Todo, Doing, and Done side by side, the classic “what’s in flight” picture.
• Queue — your unstarted tasks, with a → todo strip to pull one into play.
• Plans — the same tasks grouped by plan instead of by column.
• Scheduled — everything waiting to come back: repeating tasks and plans, parked between occurrences.

There’s also an archive for finished tasks and plans, searchable — it’s not in the menu, but the Done lane’s All done › link and the Plans view’s ‹ show done link both take you there.

Moving cards

• Drag and drop — grab a card and drag it to another column. On a phone, tap the card’s Move control, then tap the lane you want to move it to.
• Keyboard — you can move cards without a mouse: focus a card, pick it up, move it, and drop it. Plan afoot announces each step for screen readers.
• From the Queue — drag a card onto the → todo strip to promote it.
• Marking done — drag a card to Done, or check it off.

Editing lanes

Open the menu and choose Edit lanes to customise your Doing columns:

• Rename a lane.
• Set a WIP limit (Limit) — a cap on how many cards a lane should hold, to stop “Doing” from quietly becoming a second queue.
• Reorder lanes (drag, or use arrow keys).
• Add a lane with ＋ Add lane (e.g. “Waiting on others”, “Review”).
• Delete a lane (only when it’s empty and you have more than one Doing lane).

Lane cadence (automatic refill & tidy)

Some lanes can run themselves. In Edit lanes, the Todo and Done lanes have a cadence control:

• Todo — refill from Queue: automatically pull the next tasks from your queue on a schedule (every day, week, two weeks, or month — or every time a task is done), so Todo never runs dry.
• Done — empty Done: automatically clear finished cards out of Done on a schedule, keeping the board tidy. Cleared tasks still live in the archive.

Set the frequency, the weekday or day-of-month, and a time of day.
